2012, we scoffed at the gods of the old whilst holding our breath lest their prophetic wrath indeed end the world. Unknowingly celebrating a holiday of Quetzalcoatl, we woke him from centuries of stone-locked slumber. Arise!
This is a commission for a Mayan themed end of the world party in December of 2012. (Of course quetzalcoatl is Aztec, but hush! It was what they asked for.) It was a collaboration between myself and the talented Jeff Hamm, Master of Intelligent Electronics. I carved the serpent out of pink insulation foam, mounted to plywood. Jeff programmed 5m of RGB LEDS to bring him to life. We gave him a ping sensor in his nose that would make him pulse or flash or change color depending on your proximity to his face. You can see the two sonar dots between his nose and his eye if you look closely.
